What is Thailand's PDPA anyway?

Similar to Europe's GDPR, Thailand's Personal Data Protection Act or PDPA is essentially a collection of rules to govern how you store, send or receive people’s personal information.

The act covers basic data like names and addresses as well as sensitive information such as bank, credit card details or health information.

While the intention of the laws are simple at their heart but their details and their implementation can get complicated.

The Act covers

How secure is the personal information is.
What consent (if any) has the information owner granted.
How long the data is retained.
Who is legally responsible for handling the personal data.
Who owns the information.
Can the information owner request to know what information is stored and if it can be removed.
